Developing and Executing Performance Measurement, Management, and Analysis - Part l & ll

Organizations continue to be challenged to gather meaningful, reliable, and valid data to drive service delivery and improve the lives of the persons served. Many have said that Sections 1.M. and N. are the most difficult sections to execute, sustain, and use the information. In this two-part webinar, we will address all the steps in building, executing, sustaining, and, most importantly, using the information to improve the lives of the persons served.

Learning Objectives: 

• Understand how the Section 1.M. and 1.N. standards in the 2020 manuals have been enhanced.
• Develop or improve upon capturing, analyzing, and utilizing key data to improve program performance.
• Review the key building blocks in maintaining an efficient and meaningful performance measurement, management, and analysis system.
• Engage in an actual case study of a successful performance measurement, management, and analysis system.

Presenter Information:

Tim Slaven serves as organizational development consultant for behavioral health organizations and assists organizations to prepare and sustain licensure and international accreditation.

He has served as a CARF accreditation surveyor, trainer, and consultant since 1994. Tim also is a consultant with the North Carolina Evidence Based Practices Center. In these various roles he provides training and consultation in the areas of behavioral health and substance abuse service delivery, accreditation, performance management, and person-centered treatment planning.

He is the former national director of the behavioral health unit of CARF and project director of the National Opioid Treatment Accreditation Project. He is the former executive director of Hanover Community Services Board, a nationally accredited provider of mental health, intellectual disabilities, and substance abuse services in Ashland, Virginia. Tim has over 40 years of experience in substance abuse and mental health treatment and administration.

Tim is a diplomate of the American Mental Health Counselors Association, clinical mental health specialist, and National Board for Certified Counselors. Previously Tim served as adjunct faculty member at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), School of Allied Health Professions, Department of Rehabilitation Counseling; consulting associate professor at Duke University, Department of Psychiatry; and adjunct faculty at Radford University.

Tim holds a PhD (Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society) and a Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) in Urban Studies (Health Care Administration and Counseling) from Old Dominion University, a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Ball State University, and a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University. He is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and board-approved supervisor in Virginia and certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors.
